Leroy Jewelers

AT: LeRoy Jewelers, 940 Broadway
ARTIST: Joline El-Hai

Born in 1957 under the sun-soaked skies of Los Angeles, I developed a passion for light and vivid color. In 1976 I took a college recreational class in stained glass and fell in love with the medium, beginning a lifelong journey creating glass panels. A move to Seattle in 1981 gave me contact with a vibrant glass community. I took classes at Pilchuck Glass School in glass painting, jewelry fabrication at Pratt Fine Arts Center and experimented with glass fusing. The grey skies of my new home inspired me to electrically-illuminate my work, causing more sculptural forms to emerge from my studio and expanding my repertoire to include fused glass jewelry, wall masks and light boxes. In 1989 I established Bella Luz Studio as a production line of decorative lights that feature reproductions of my colorful drawings framed in copper. I sell my lights to the public to this day.

LeRoy Jewelers has been a family-owned business for 80 years. It is open Thursday-Sunday.
