HUMMINGBIRD

AT: W.W. Seymour Conservatory, 316 S G St
ARTISTS: Eileen Fitz-Faulkner
TITLE: Hummingbird

About the Artist:
Inspired by her first exposure to the Tacoma Light Trail in 2020, Eileen loves the idea of creating a sparkle
in the depths of winter and a reason to get out and celebrate the dark. After all. “Light is the meaning of
her name”. Working with light is a new exploration and there many techniques to explore. She hopes you
enjoy her manifestations of nature in these cold winter nights.
Art and gardening are dueling passions for Eileen. Much of her work as an artist are sculptural mosaics
created for the garden to allow color in the garden all year long. A long time Californian, she moved up to
the Pacific Northwest in the quiet covid month of December 2020. Prior to moving here, she worked as a
Professional Artist, Pruner and Garden Designer. Her artwork can be seen in Los Altos, Fort Brag
Botanical Garden, Oakland and other Bay area cities, her website is scapeartsculpture.com.
Eileen studied Design from UC Davis and Horticulture at Merrit College in Oakland. She spent years
working in Visual Merchandising and creating stage sets for community and school theater programs. As
well as teaching stage construction techniques to HS Students. In 2001, she was the Chair of 2 custom
built community playgrounds in Oakland, CA known as Frogpark, built with the over 1,500 volunteers.

The W.W. Seymour Conservatory is a Victorian jewel-box inside Wright Park. It is open Wed-Sun.
